AAI registration successfully established

We have enabled Arnes NetID login based on the Authentication and Authorization Infrastructure (AAI). You can login to the AAI by clicking on the AAI icon under the big red NEXT button in the bottom right corner of the opening image on the first page, or via the URL.

The main feature of this method of registration is that the registration takes place at the user's institution. Therefore, if a user who has an AAI arranged in his/her school, college, university, institute or partner organisations logs in to 1KA, the first step of the verification will be done through his/her organisation (e.g. school) and not through 1KA.

It should be noted that NetID is an international network of institutions and you can therefore apply for 1KA via AAI by replying to an email at hundreds of partner organisations, ranging from CERN, London School of Economics (LSE), Universtiy of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Universty of Utrecht, Universite de Paris IV (Sorbonne), Charles University Prague, to the National Library of Sweden, Yamagata University and Insituto Federal de Brasillia.

Additional security is provided by a second step, after entering a username and password, where the user can review and agree to what data will be provided to the application. Two steps can be automated - selecting the organisation and confirming the data transmission - reducing the number of steps to entering and confirming the username and password respectively.

The main advantage of the AAI registration is the protection of data and the prevention of tracking of users (e.g. by Facebook, Google, etc.), as well as the unified access to ARNES services.

NOTE: the username or email may be different from the AAI name, e.g. if the email is janez.novak@organiziacijax.si, the AAI name may be a combination of the username and a different domain, often novakj@organiziacijax.si. The password is of course kept. If you have any problems or are unclear, please contact the administrator in your organisation.

1KA is free to use for basic users
