Between 12th and 15th November 2012, when the Centre for Social Informatics organized a meeting of the COST network WEBDATANET (12 – 13 November) and a global meeting of the leading experts for online surveys Internet Survey Workshop (15 – 16 November), the Centre also organized the Web Survey Day, which was held on Wednesday, 14th November, at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The aim of the event was to showcase the expertise of experts on web surveys.
The meeting was attended by more than 200 participants, researchers and practitioners of web surveys from the public sector, including universities and research institutions, as well the public sector. Given the relatively narrow area of expertise, the number of participants exceeded expectations.
The event consisted of three parts. In the introductory part (9 a.m. – 11 a.m.), Dr Katja Lozar Manfreda and Dr Vasja Vehovar made a general and practical overview of the situation in this area, after which dr. Mick Couper, a leading expert on web surveys in the world, took questions from the audience.
The second part (11 a.m. – 12 a.m.) was intended for users of the 1KA tool for web surveys and was divided into three separate groups; Introduction to 1KA (Marjana Vrh), Review workshop (Gregor Čehovin and Uroš Rikanović) and Own installation workshop (Mitja Kuščer).
In the third part (13 p.m. – 15 p.m.), Nejc Berzelak offered a systematic review of the methodological aspects of web questionnaire design.
